Happy New Years ! Year of the Red Pig

The year of the Pig is an important year for our family. Melanie and Casi were both born in the year of the pig and baby Mei-Ling will be born in the year of the pig.
The pig in Chinese astrology represents many good things....intelligence being one of them and I can attest that both Melanie and Casi are very smart people (no brag, just fact) so naturally we are expecting little miss Mei-Ling Fah to be the same.

My beloved is taking me out for Chinese food tonight to our favorite restaurant. A good way to celebrate to be sure.
We have always took every opportunity to celebrate the customs of other cultures. Knowing, appreciating and understanding about other people, dissolves prejudice.
We spent the afternoon planning the garden, getting things ready to plant, like MORE asparagus plants, garlic, onions (both red and sweet), shallots, potatoes, red cabbage, and broccoli.
Flowers too, day lilies, hollyhocks, and a couple new rose bushes.

Its lots of fun to decorate for special holidays, Chinese New Years being one of my favorite since I am a lover of the color red.
Lanterns, glass sun catchers and of course,
the table is set for a bit of a sweet snack later on in the evening.
