Just a Couple More Pictures

There was no way I could go to bed without adding a couple more pictures of Mei-Ling. I didn't get to see her today, but her daddy and his sister did.
Melanie stayed in bed most of the day healing. Tonight she had a blood sugar of 25 and was loosing consciousness right before our eyes. Fortunately we were able to get enough glucose gel in her fast enough to avoid another trip to the hospital. Low blood sugars have been our nightmare of late. Its just been hard to regulate them for the past 3 weeks. We were talking to her about an old friend, then Emery and I sat down together while she talked to Casi on the cell phone after his visit with the baby. Within minutes our phone rang and it was Casi telling us to go to Melanie's room and check her, she was low and not able to keep up a conversation with him. This all took place in 5 minutes from when we left her room. It seemed strange to get a call to go to the next room and check on her but are we ever glad Casi called us since Melanie was too out of it to even call our names. In such a short time all this happened.
In all our years of dealing with Melanie's diabetes, its the low blood sugars that scare us all the most.

Steven and Priscilla came over today to visit with Melanie a bit. They have picked out a name for the baby, Elizabeth Ann. I have always loved the name Elizabeth and feel pretty happy that they have chosen that name. August is not that far away...there will be another baby to spoil !

A little added note here....I just wanted to add that I suggested Sarah Elizabeth for a name for Steven and Priscilla's baby, but they decided they didn't like Sarah so went with Elizabeth, then they chose the middle name Ann. A comment about the name, left me wondering if they were friends with an Elizabeth that is notorious in blog land (grin). Maybe I should suggest another name to them on second thought.

Melissa and James are having a Cinco de Mayo party tonight, not a common thing in Vermont, but these two Texans are showing their friends the joy of Mexican food and fun. Can't wait to see pictures of them in their clothes from Mexico that I sent to them a couple weeks ago. Pictures just came in so I am including one of Melissa in her Mexican dress.

I am off to bed. You know, amid all the hardships of the last few weeks, I feel nothing but peace in my heart. Its a good feeling. God has blessed me with lots of stamina to keep going and to get done all things needed to be done and make daily trips to and from the hospitals. I guess when you feel content and grateful, all things just flow together somehow.

You are such a beautiful and such a deep and loving family. It is a joy to see each new photograph and feel each new prayer that goes up each and every minute. We can feel the peace coming in now, we all know that this deep strength in you, the Mother...the Mimi...will be the heart of this whole, holy, healing family's home. Life's challenges teach us about love, they teach us about becoming stronger. You are doing this, you make us all so proud. We share with you in each new step of the healing. You,your husband, your children, grandchildren...never, ever leave our hearts and prayers.

Congrats to Steven and Priscilla on their baby and on the beautiful name they chose for the child. Gorgeous, classy, a name steeped in history. Steven and Priscilla can rest assured that the name of their firstborn will not invite cruel teasing in school. These two are considerate parents who think of the baby's wellbeing first and foremost, and you should be pround of them! I have no doubt whatsoever that Priscilla will take good care of Elizabeth Ann during her pregnancy. The very best to Steven, Priscilla, and Elizabeth Ann and congrats again.

Hi Roswitha,
We are all into naming the babies along the lines of their cultural background. Strong minded children never need worry about having if their name is made fun of in school.
So we as a family think more of what a name means, what the last name is and having children be confident in who they are in order to carry off the name. I am pleased that Steven has chosen the name I suggested though. Same name as another blogger in Houston, no connection to our choice though ! Goes well with our last name, just as Mei-Ling goes well with her asian last name. Life is full of diversity and that is what makes things so interesting.
We are praying for a healthy baby for Steven and Priscilla of course and hope that she pays a bit more attention to her nutrition which is quite poor.

Elizabeth Ann is a beautiful name. I recommend a nickname of BethAnn. And, of course, a "home" name of
Bethy.
