New sewing area

For all of my married life, any sewing I did was done at the dinning room table. No projects could be left there for very long as meal times come three times a day. Last night my husband put up a work table for me in our spare bedroom. I now have a place to sew apart from the table. And there is room to cut on this new work table too. Next to the table is a chest where I keep sewing needs and knitting items. I am in the process of painting that chest. I painted the little chair last year. It is nice having my sewing machine by the window so I can look out and see the birds in the trees.

That is nice to have your own workplace where you can leave your project without worries that it would be in the way...
Well, I am sticking to our dining table, though - Patty, at least someone is respecting tradition!
When seing the photos I was wondering whether you paint the furniture yourself, after reading the text I know...
Do you speak in your family that old german-like language, Patty?
Happy sewing and do not look out of the window too much, otherwise you will end up doing nothing :o)
I am really cheeky... sorry...

Patty, I know you'll love having your own space where you don't have to be putting things away for dinner. It is going to be wonderful to have the window right there. Spring's coming! :)

Well I'm just tickled pink for you, Patti! As Judy said, you will love it. For years my sewing 'space' was the dining room table as well. It's great to be able to work on something now, and get up and walk away (withOUT cleaning up) to make lunch or supper. :o)

Patricia, I love your sunny workplace! I have a question about head coverings. I've always wondered about the difference between the black caps and the white, net ones. Do they have different meanings? There is a large community of German Baptists who live near us and it seems like the young women wear one type and the married woman another. I've wondered about this for a long time. Thank you for letting me ask. :)

That's really nice. I understand that a designated sewing area is the absolute DREAM of many who sew.

My sewing table is also in front of a window and I love looking out over our property while I sew. I see lots of cats playing on the creek bank and aften see deer on the lot next door where we'll be building in a year or so.

I don't know if I've ever told you how much I enjoy coming to "visit" with you each day. I love your way of looking at the world and always come away relaxed.
How wonderful to sit in front of an ever changing picture while you sew!
