A Few more Photos

There is a little pond in our town. Its right across the street from the University. It is a place where on sunny weekends you can find families sitting on blankets having picnics and see young lovers strolling hand in hand. Its the place where little children catch their first fish and learn how much fun it is to feed the ducks stale bread. Old men fly kites there. Old ladies walk their dogs and gaze with that kindly look filled with personal memories at the young mothers with babies.
Today the bridge was under water for several hours, and will probably be that way again as the sky is still rumbling and rain is falling in buckets. Our whole country under a flash flood warning for the evening.
The little grape hyacinth, a bright welcome on such a gray day. The Great Blue Heron so graceful in his flight across the pond. In all today I saw 4 of these wonderful birds.

Oh, the grape hyacinths bring back childhood memories - we had heaps of them in the garden (it was one of the few things that grew, along with two gorgeous lilac bushes, an apple tree and some gladioli LOL). Floods are pretty scarey!
