Gratitude

This afternoon, when the sun started to loose some of its heat, I sat at my desk, feeling a bit numb. A feeling of Gratitude filled me. I am so thankful for so much....
for the peace of early morning light
for birds that sing
for Emery's tenderness
for the joy of having my children call each day
for the deepening blue hues of the evening sky
for the way the crescent moon hangs in the sky, just like in the movies
for the color that has returned to a tiny babies cheeks
for good hiking boots and beautiful hiking trails
for the way the wind sounds in the cotton wood tree
for cool dew on the soft green grass under my bare feet
for the color of pink, worn so well on roses
for tea in delicate tea cups
for being raised to be open minded and not narrow minded
for wind chimes
for a spiral of stones in the sand, along the river bank, walking it, walking out of it, for the wonder of being wound by it and imagining who placed those stones.
for a comfortable bed, even if its unmade today
for the smell of baby lotion on a sweet wee one
for a man that loves me completely
for loving that special man with that same kind of love
for earth shoes and tie dye socks
for music that makes your spirit dance
for poetry that stirs the soul
for old friends and new friends
for beautiful paintings
for ocean waves etched in my memory
for the smell of the sea and remembering not long ago twirling like a child on the wet sands of York Maine, long after midnight, when the sea and sky merged into one and stars hung like diamonds on the black velvet night.
For life, for breath, for health and for hope
