Steven and Pricilla

Steven and Pricilla had their pictures taken together at a studio this week. Now in our opinion, that was a bit richy and they could have used the $200 for something a bit more practical. They could have had the pictures taken at Wall-Mart for lots cheaper.
But then we are more on the practical side and not known for extravagant living.
Here is a bit of a background on the photos anyway.
They have stepped outside the norm by having these pictures taken so soon in their courtship. Most get them taken just a bit further down the road. Lets just say, they are moving fast in this relationship and I suspect my son will be spoken to by someone in the church pretty soon regarding this matter along with not being frugal. There is a very prescribed code of behavior for dating within the Mennonite world ! But my son is not a patient person and moves at the speed of light in most things he does .
I love the picture but really like the more natural setting ones that I shared before with you all. They look sort of stiff and certainly posed here.
Steven loves all things having to do with the tropics, palm trees and white sand beaches, etc. I saw his love for those things in the chosen background. Its fun seeing things unfold in their young lives.
Now if we can just keep his money IN his wallet ! Getting Married and setting up a home, if it goes that way and I believe it will, is not inexpensive.
Mennonite weddings have guest lists of 700 or so. Most have 400 or more that attend.

The boy is looking ahead. When they are celebrating their 50th anniversary they will be glad they spent the money on quality keepsake photos.

I only wish that were so, but they were just printed out on a computer and certainly not Olan Mills quality. Just the local guy that does passport photos !

I wish your son and his beloved the best of luck in the pursuit of love, and I wish for you the wisdom to let them go at their own speed. I am not sure of your religious status from reading your posts, but, as a FORMER Mennonite, I can speak with great authority, if my in-laws had not judged everything my ex-husband and I did, and if they had kept opinions to themselves, I would probably still be Mennonite, and I would have still been married to my Mennonite husband. We "courted" for 4 years, then were married for another 4 years. The pressure was just tooooo much. Just some cheerful and heartfelt advice.

Thanks Aikentoquilt for the kindly advice. For us, its more to do with our sons background from his years of abuse, more than a religious or mennonite behavior aspect. He still has hurdles to overcome in many areas.
