Simply Restful

One of our favorite things to do, is to totally loose track of time while sitting outside around our fire pit. Its a time of music, laughter, roasting marshmallows or just silent gazing at the night sky as the wonderful aroma of wood smoke circles us. I had forgotten to eat supper so took a trek into the garden, picked a couple of beautiful eggplants, sliced them, dipped them in olive oil and chopped garlic, then fire roasted them. What a treat !
Sitting around the fire always feels so ancient a past time. I like that.
Melanie, Casi and Mei-Ling stopped over to visit with us and roast a few marshmallows. Family is a gift more precious than gold, something to be treasured.
There was a cool breeze tonight that felt so soft and delightful. Feeling so mellow and relaxed, ready for a good nights sleep.

We love our fire pit too..and need to have a few more family nights around the fire before it gets too cold. It has been cold at night now already and today I broke out a favorite cardigan sweater to wear to town over my standard navy tee shirt. I love autumn...and it is my favorite time for the fire pit gatherings too!! The eggplant sounds wonderful!!

Hi Patty, did you use fire bricks to build your pit or is it safe to use just regular bricks or concrete pavers, etc?

Hi Dana,
We just used pavers, but our fire pit is probably 3 ft deep in the ground. So the pavers are more for a foot rest or decoration than to contain any fire !
