Oh what a day !

Torrential rains all the way to the hospital, traffic due to an accident. Arrive at the hospital to find our little one out like a light, raspy breathing from being intubated. Her little face still swollen a bit but better now that the PIC line is finally out. After a bit she wakes up, looks at her Grampa and Grammie and gives us a smile.... I wonder how a tiny little one can be so happy in the course of so many hard things. She laughs and smiles at the funny sounds we make for her. Her soft black hair feels like silk to the touch.
She is sleepy and weak, you can see in the way she holds onto my finger. I think she is weary of all the sounds by her crib, the beeping of monitors, the sound of the suction tube near her head and the crying of other babies. She spots the TV and watches it with interest.
Melanie is exhausted, worn out from worry and fear along with no sound sleep for such a long time. Casi is always right beside her, except when he has to be at work.
Emery and I hated to leave Mei-Lings bedside but we have some food shopping to do at Whole Foods, the weather is changing, we hope to get ahead of the storms. Not far into the trip, traffic is stopped, another accident, this one bad, an over turned pick up truck. The rain falling in buckets.
A short trip turns into a long journey and we are tired anyway. At the store we opted to have a bite to eat, sit together in near silence, just weary folk. Squash soup, garlic potatoes and a slice of pizza, some chocolate soy milk and a few pistachios. Our meal. The ride home uneventful, thankfully. I have Emery stop on the way home so I can snap some pictures of a few buffalo that roam someones pasture not too far from home. Texas, "home on the range where the deer and the buffalo roam"

on the way to the hospital
Wee Mei-Ling sleeping
A wrap on her arm with the IV in it preventing her from moving it
On the way to Whole Foods, traffic
an over turned pickup the cause of the traffic
Buffalo roaming !

Patty~Mei-LIng is such a wise soul. Her pictures make her look like she knows what is going on and why. What a blessing she is. What a time for her mommy and daddy after the very eventful pregnancy and now a very eventful 4 months.

I cannot wait to hear she is healthy and all her surgeries are over. Many hugs to the family.

She looks like her daddy in that first photo. I thought she had been looking more and more like Melanie, but must be the angle.
I hate driving in bad storms, and I haven't had the stress any of you have had. Mei-Ling is such a fighter, she is here for a reason, to teach us all.

Thinking of all your family at this time.
This babe has been on my heart -- I've been praying and checking in OFTEN. She is so much a little fighter -- she is a miracle. (I am unable to post at work, but I can check in!)
