Friday Morning in Photos

It has been a lazy sort of summer morning...the air is warm and heavy, just the kind of day you imagine as part of a scene from somewhere in the south, large porch, old worn rocking chairs or a swing suspended from a porch beam. Ladies fanning themselves, sipping some iced tea, maybe with a sprig of mint on top. Sounds good actually. I however had mud boots on, old clothes and rambled around doing chores at a snails pace. Too much to see around me to go fast. Took clothes off the line, they were hung up late in the afternoon yesterday so they danced about all night long on the line. Picked tomatoes, and actually thought, "I hope there aren't too many more ripe right now" which didn't sound too grateful did it ?
I checked the pecan tree and the fig tree to see the fruit and nuts growing. I played with the goats, watered some flowers, forgot about breakfast and simply just wandered around admiring the handiwork of God. I like this slow and easy pace we have worked out for our life. It suits us. Leaves us time for love notes and holding hands. Sharing meals with our grown children and grand-babies without all the stress I hear about from other folks. Looking at the world around us and seeing the beauty of it.

Good morning Patty - I too skipped breakfast and have been in the garden weeding the walkways... Scott will weed the beds easily but seems to become blind to the walkways. Now I will just need to find some "free" mulch for the walkways to keep the weeds away. I still have one section to get weeded but then it will be done at least for a few days. I was looking at your pictures and the picture of your fig reminded me of the little boy that used to live next door.. One day he asked me, "Ms Becky where's your fig tree?" When I said I didn't have one in my yard he said, "WHY NOT?" - like everyone has a fig tree. I told him fig's weren't something I really liked much and I hadn't thought about planting one. Bless his heart he was so confused about me not having or wanting a fig tree. I believe he was about 4 at the time.

I can understand how you felt about the tomatoes. Sad to say, I have felt the same way the last 2 days. I felt bad after saying it outloud to Ray. He has worked hard planting.

I was looking at your pictures and said that looks like figs. Then there you go and say figs. When Ray was asking what I wanted planted I never thought we could grow figs. That will for sure be on my list for next year.

Our cherry tomatoes don't even make it in the house. I wash them outside and eat them while walking around. I just know the figs next year will have the same fate.

Have a wonderful day.

HI Patty!!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and especially for leaving a comment so that I can visit yours!!!! I *love* your blog! I love the simplicity of it and that you are trying to live a simple life too.
My husband and I have been changing our life slowly but surely into a more simple one. I should really write a testimony on how it all started.. to give you a short version: we built our "dream home" a few years ago. We had all the modern features and latest of everything. Including luxury cars and living in the 'best' neigborhood in our city. Neither of us had ever been money hungry or materialistic or grew up that way. Infact both our parents oddly enough thee most humble people we know of! But we got caught up in what everyone else our age was doing (buying the big house and cars etc) because thats what we thought we were supposed to do. Because afterall how would it look if we were the only ones who wanetd a small home ;)
Anyway after 3 months of living in our "dream house" we looked at each other one day and were like why do we have this big house? its really too big, too big to maintain and too many stairs and just a waste. We could do so much more with the extra money we will end up putting into this house, meaning we could give more. So long story short we decided to sell it that night and called a realtor. It sold 3 mths later so we only lived there a total of 6 months. Lesson learned. And we really didnt "care" what anyone thought. Of course we got lots of questions and raised eyebrows for sure. But it didnt matter. Because we strongly feel that our treasures are not here on earth. Having a big house and using all that electricity and well you know just everything that comes with having the big home.. we just didnt care for it. So we "downsized" into a small condo. I wanted a small but "pretty" place. And so thats what my blog is about..creating a "pretty" little home. And living simplier..although I havent really wrote too much about living simple..yet. But I will eventually. Right now Im focused on getting it decorated and blogging about that. But we are living simple compared to all our friends thats for sure. And we'd like to live even simpler.
This comment turned out longer than I expected LOL
Anyway, I sure like your blog! Its so refreshing.
Hugs to you,
Candy :)
