A New Food
Today I tried a new food for me. Red Rice from Bhutan. It is really red, dark red, even after cooking. The picture doesn't show it well, but it is a deep red. It is really full of flavor and a delightful change from brown or white rice.
here is a link that tells a bit about it and includes some recipes.

Bhutan is a place I would love to visit and plan on going there at some point in time.
Something very interesting about a country whose Gross National Product is Happiness. I like the sound of that. Bhutan is nestled in the eastern Himalayas. Its a country of few visitors, in 2006, just under 18,000 tourists entered the Kingdom of Bhutan. No independent travel is allowed in Bhutan. They guard their country carefully from the negetive impact of tourism on the culture.

Wow!!! Who wouldn't want to visit, hu? I must do a Search on this place. Sounds lovely. Especially how they are set on protecting it.
