This is great! Thanks for posting this. I completely agree with this message. I wouldn't mind getting rid of our TV's all together.

We've been pretty successful at keeping the commercialism down - the kids don't watch commercial TV, and we've made them save up for certain expensive toys that other children in the neighborhood got the moment they wished for them. And we do talk about advertising, and the way things are sold to them, so our children are learning to be "aware". We are careful about what we buy for ourselves as well as them, and the children pick up on that, too. I'm thrilled to see how creative they are, hours of imaginative play instead of endless amounts of stuff.

But the stories they bring home about their classmates and what latest thing they have... wow! Some parents just aren't cluing in yet. I'd like to see these videos more widely known.

Patty, I've been thinking one of the positive aspects we may see from the recession is discarding of the consumerism mentality and a return to family time and working together to get through the difficulties ahead.

But I am very worried about how several generations, including my own, will fair through the tough times when there is a prevailing sense of entitlement.

I'm glad to see this video presented by a medical professional. It gives it more weight! Thanks for posting it.
