Picking Peas
As the sun sunk slowly in the west, the air cooled ever so slightly, making it tolerable to be outside to do some extra garden work. Peas needed to be picked. Green pods of goodness. Plump and full of tiny green orbs. The garden is a place of peace, of solitude and of bounty.
Pea pods, bursting with goodness
sweet peas ready to be steamed
and even the discarded pods have a beauty all of their own

Happy Weekend and love from SE Texas! ~bonnie
oh and I can't believe I'm first! :c)
I hope I can learn a lot from you once I arrive in Texas (40 days left as of today).
I don't know anything about bread making, canning, gardening, sewing, etc. but I am sooooo ready to learn the basics.
Hey do you live by the conservative Mennonite church in Grandview?
I was doing a MapQuest not too long ago and noticed that my house was a few miles closer to the church in Grandview than the Mennonite church in Scurry (Grays Prairie Mennonite).
I plan on visiting both anyway since the distance between the 2 weren't bad at all.
Hope you and Emery are having a good weekend! I am trying to soak up as much of this cooler weather while I can :-)
Blessings,
Dawn
Grays Prairie was the first church we attended, since there was no fellowship in this area in the beginging. We know several families there. My dearest friend lives in Scurry and attends there.
I think Grandview is more welcoming and open to newcomers than Grays Prairie.
A tormado or two- but no peas!
cheers from Kansas!
