We Live in a Plastic World
We live in a plastic world and that is somewhat of an understatement. Look around you, right now and think about how much in your field of vision is plastic, it might even start with your glasses if you wear them. In front of me, the computer with all its plastic parts, camera too, a bottle of screen cleaner, a bag full of organic mission figs, (they may have been grown organic but packaged in chemicals. My blood pressure machine is plastic, the copier/scanner is. My desk has some plastic on it, there is a cassette tape beside me, plastic case of course. A plastic bag hangs off the door knob. There are numerous pens, all plastic and all this without even turning my head. Just peripheral vision took all that in. We sit on furniture with made with plastics, my desk chair legs are plastic, and the bottle of herbs, so carefully wild crafted, sit in plastic. A quick look at the Green Guide regarding plastic storage containers will have you wishing you had all your great grandmothers glass jars that lined the shelf in her pantry. We put plastic on our babies most sensitive area, along with super absorbent materials and wonder why they have so many illnesses that I never heard of in my childhood and we even put them to sleep on plastic mattresses with flame retardant on their jammies.
Walk through your house, what doesn't have plastic ? Not much. If you removed the toxic aspect of plastic, you still would be left with the pollution from making it, and throwing it away.
Then there is all that petroleum it takes to make it . What are we doing to ourselves for the sake of convenience ? I even wonder why we continue to eat off melamine when we know its so hazardous to ingest, is it worth the risk to your kids to buy those cutsie little plates and cups made of the very stuff that can make you so sick if you eat a little bit of it ?

Maybe we could all just cut down a little bit on the amount of plastic we purchase. Maybe we would all be a bit more healthy if we did and be able to leave more of that oil in the ground and not create places like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch that is they say, 90% plastic ~
