Oranges and Cloves

Love this time of the year, preparing for the holiday season. Creating things that fill the house with good smells and create traditions.

This is something I have done since I was a little girl, helping my mother and grandmother poke cloves into oranges and lemons, it was always well worth the work.

My mother would set a big old wooden bread bowl on the radiator in the hallway and fill it with these wondrous balls of spicy holiday scent.

Never thought to place them in a bowl on the radiator. But, that would mean prying the cats off of it. Thanks for the tip.

The title of this post is so evocative that I just thought about it for a while before visiting. Lovely project for the holidays.

After reading about this on your blog last year we did it and oh, our house had such a lovely scent of Christmas! We had such fun with this that it's been added to our family traditions - thank you!

This is a very common thing to do in Sweden too, I like it!
