I Feel Such Hope Today

I watched the inauguration today with tears in my eyes, happy, hopeful tears, the kind that come from deep joy. So many faces in the crowds full of youthful enthusiasm, no matter their age.
It appears apathy is dead today and what good news that is.
I want to do my part to make things better in this country, to move beyond the doom and gloom and get out the broom and help sweep up the mess. To me, it feels as if the window blinds have been opened after being closed for years and now the light is being let in, changing the entire mood of the country.
President Obama, my prayers are with you and thank you for making so many of us feel that the country is once again by the people, for the people.

Oh I agree. I choose hope over fear - it's the only way anything good really happens.

AMEN!
I tried to stay up late to watch it on tv, but by midnight, I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.
I have hopes of catching it later though.

I feel so hopeful and confident - for the first time in years !!

Oh, yes, it has been a wonderful day! And I feel exactly the same way! I had lots of tears, but they were of joy and hope for the first time in over eight years!

I wish that I could understand the hope that you feel. But alas, the hope is not with me - nor with anyone else that I know.

Last month 600 people were permanently laid off at the company where my husband works. One man had been there for 40 years. Another had 8 children. Still another man killed himself.

On inauguration day, it was announced that there would be another huge, permanent layoff the first of next month because of a 7 million dollar loss of business.

My husband, who has been in a high level management position with the company for 15 years,is probably going to be one of the ones to go.

He will be 54 this month so there is no hope of being hired at a decent position even if one were available. His 401k which was quite large is now practically worthless.

If my husband is lucky enough to find another job, it will probably be working as a menial laborer making about one tenth of what he makes now.

I'm sorry, but I don't feel your hope and I don't understand it.

From now on, we must forget about help from Washington - no matter who is president - and depend totally upon ourselves and our Creator.

I am sorry Ruth Ann for your hardships, but for me, I look at this as a time to change direction from looking at all the doom and gloom, no longer counting on things being in the negetive, but seeking to look with hope in my heart for a better time a better world when if nothing else, we as a people have the drive to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and count our BLESSINGS and be grateful that we have what we do have. We are so much better off than much of the world. My husband got a fantastic job at age 60 after leaving medical administration, making more than twice what he made before. Hope springs eternal for those that have it.
