America's true sartorial heritage is simplicity, not sloppiness. It's time to lose the fanny packs.

Oh My Goodness! I've been in Oz too long ! I saw the word "fanny" and just about swooned right off my chair!
Here in Australia, fanny is a word that people use to describe your front errmmmm... "girlie bits" and it's usually pretty derogatory. (Think the C-word.)
Here, fanny packs are called *bum-bags* and when I slip up and utter the wrong term, oh my! The looks I get!

Oh glad to know that so when I travel there I won't talk about falling on my fanny or something !
Wyoming is a place where casual dress [jeans] seems to prevail. After getting used to that I don't mind--a good pair of Eddie Bauer jeans, a nice top and a blazer--clogs--I can go anywhere, even to church if I chose. [Although I usually wear a skirt for church.]
I do wish there was a more "proper" dress code here for business wear. A teller at the local bank yesterday was wearing a low-cut camisole with a zip front jacket unzipped--a truly enormous bosom and the bra clasp bludging forth. Am I hopelessly prudish to think this was inappropriate?

I agree..fanny packs have always been something I detest!! Ick.
Not that I am a fashionista for sure..me in my jeans and sweaters or skirts and shirts and aprons, crocs or birks or sneakers for the most part...but still. You have to draw the line somewhere...I draw it at fanny packs!!

:>) Loved my pack for the time that I traveled. It was a necessary way to keep the pick out of my pocket. I could rest my arms on the top and never worry that my passport would be with me when I hit Turkey or Greece.
Never wore it in the States. When I traveled with cash, I wore an under envelope around my neck and a small backpack for everything else.
Are they out of style in Europe? Those men lived with their packs!
