A New Look

Long before Christmas, Emery took me to Ikea and let me pick out whatever I wanted for our bedroom. I had to promise to wait until Christmas to have the things he purchased for me.
Since I love red, I chose a pattern with red in it so my accents could be red. I loved the crewel embroidery pillow and lamp shade that went with it. Found drapes that just sort of bring it all together. Once the construction aspect of the remodelling is complete, making our room nearly twice as large as it is now, and the walls are painted and papered, I will feel like we have a new room altogether.
I am happy with how it looks, pretty but not too feminine. I just read a decorating book that said to make sure the master bedroom is not too girlie when its a shared room !

Love your bedroom set and lamp shade. PLEASE, PLEASE show us pictures when you get the room painted and papered. Cannot wait to see it. Wouldn't your red kerosene lamp look lovely in the bedroom window. When are we going to get to see your new hairdo?? Happy New Year.

Very pretty and bright. I read in a book once that red was the color most chosen by praire homemakers, to add cheer to their small, dark cabins. "Turkey red", I believe it was called. It looks beautiful against the whites.

The pillow is beautiful! Love your headboard as well. Red it a lovely colour but I've never decorated with it before. It might be a nice colour for the bedroom that DH would like. Hmmm ... have to think about that more.

Beautiful. I love the tapestry feel. And the red and white feel so clean.
My bedroom will be Bubble gum pink and Chocolate brown. Civil war era colors. You would think the pink would make it feminine, but it really maintains a masculine quality as well.

Very nice ! I recognized the Ikea patterns immediately, I love them as well. It's funny, I am also in the middle of re-doing a lot of things in the house, though it goes slowly because I first have to declutter a lot. But the major change concerns my wardrobe as well... I even suscribed to Missus Smarty Pants to help me set up a plan ! It was funny to read your post about clothes, I felt the exact same way (why have fancy clothes when I have to be out in the garden ?)
