Texas in Spring

Here are a few pictures from our little drive just outside of town.
The Bridge was built in 1915 and called The Queens Bridge, its no longer in use as you can see why in the picture of the hole in the bridge that allows you to view the river below. Beside this bridge is a modern bridge, functional, but does not hold all the history of this old rusted beauty.
There is a sadness to this old bridge, as soon as you walk onto it, you sense that tragedy has taken place on it. You can feel that it is a place where desperate people have jumped to their death. A basket of fake flowers and a name plate confirm this. Ribbons with the names of loved ones inscribed on it, flying, each name with all the sadness carried off on the wind, the never ending wind of the river.

Thanks for the touch of Texas. There was an old swinging bridge near Rock Church cemetery, between Bluff Dale and Glen Rose. I wonder if it's still there? I have so many good memories of that old bridge.
