An Ordinary Day
Floors swept, no carpet in our house, except for an area rug in our bedroom to help ease the shock of a cold floor in the winter months. Sheets off the bed, in the washer and soon to be on the line. The wind is blowing hard this morning, natures fabric softener.
The house is quiet, except for the sound of the wind blowing the trees, no leaved out.
There is garden work to be done in a bit, the ground leveled where the new raised bed will be placed. Good hard work that makes that half hour of reading time in the afternoon, ever so welcome.
The puppy is napping on the back porch, he was not too happy a bit ago, a couple of the chickens hopped up the stairs of the porch and gobbled up his food. Maddox tried to protest, but he was lightly pecked by a hen. He just came to the door, whining for some help from me. I put out more food and shut the half door so no more chickens could steal from him.
Throughout the day there are so many little happenings that create good conversation for Emery and I in the evening. We laugh together, plan together, talk about what we accomplished during the day and share the ordinary things that so often turn out to be the very things that give us the life we so love.
This afternoon I will do some baking for Emery to take to work this week, he needs more calories in his diet, baked goods will do that for certain. If time permits, the sewing machine will hum along for a bit. A birthday apron for Mei-Ling. Hard to imagine she will be 4 before the month is over.
Each moment with the grandchildren is such a blessing. A treasure tucked beside my heart, to be cherished forever.
My life is full, never lonely. I feel so blessed. Seeds sown many years ago have yielded a garden of joy that just keeps on growing.
